July 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

PLCMC will be one of a select group of libraries to provide experts to document the use of gaming as a literacy tool, monitor the results of gaming initiatives, and contribute to an online best practices manual called, The Librarians’ Guide to Gaming. This will be a comprehensive, online literacy and gaming toolbox. The manual will be field tested by additional libraries. The ultimate goal is that this will be a national model for libraries.

This is a joint project by ALA the the Verizon Foundation. ALA will use the $1 million grant from the Verizon Foundation to study the impact of gaming on literacy skills.
